To Jen and Pen,
I know you’re scared. I’m sorry that you were told the news at your doctors office that your baby had “Mongoloid”. That is no way to find out your precious angel has Down syndrome before she is even born. First of all she is not a monster. She is a perfectly, beautifully made creation of God.
But there’s something you should know that I wish someone told me.. she will teach you how to be kind and compassionate. How to be strong and resilient. She will gather communities together, unite families for a greater cause. She is going to be one of your precious and greatest joys in life. She is going to light a fire in you that you’ve never seen before. She will ignite that true passion that you’ve been unable to recognize until now. You and Penelope will have an amazing journey with a huge community behind you from all over the world.
I believe more now than ever. God does not make any mistakes. She is necessary in this world. Her kindness will keep you humble. She will remind you every day that she is a gift of life. Treasure her!
